Co-author of the book "Protect & Avenge" William K. Pascalis and his wife answered my many questions  about The Flying Knights. Mr. Pascalis, was a 9FS Crew Chief from early Darwin days. He suggested reading a story about the 9th Pursuit Squadron, "Fighters at Humpty Doo", from Air Facts: The Magazine for Pilots, November, '42.
